Tim Burgess reveals details of Joaquin Phoenix collaboration

The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, actor Joaquin Phoenix and Antony Langdon of Spacehog have been collaborating on a musical project together, Burgess told NME.COM.

The trio have laid down tracks in a Los Angeles studio with the help of former Creation Records boss and Charlatans manager Alan McGee.

"Joaquin wrote the songs, Antony sang and I did backing vocals," Burgess explained. "It's been a great time. Music is really important to Joaquin."

Burgess said that the project began last summer and it doesn't look like it will end any time soon, in part because Phoenix, who played Johnny Cash in the film 'Walk The Line', is known for being a bit of a perfectionist.

"It'll probably be a never-ending project," said Burgess. "His songs are great -- I really hope they come out."
